Calvary UMC is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, youth and volunteers who participate in ministries sponsored by the church.
After several months of drafting, in May 2011 Calvary UMC’s Church Council passed a policy and set of procedures for use in ministries aimed at reducing the risk of abuse of all kinds for our children and youth as well as protecting the adult volunteers involved in those ministries. We responded to this need as have scouting programs, YMCA programs, and churches around the country. The entire Safe Sanctuary Policy is available to be viewed by clicking the link below.
A Safe Sanctuary Committee has been formed and is developing an implementation plan including an application process, online trainings, town hall meetings, and courses.
The Safe Sanctuary Policy reflects our congregation’s commitment to preserving this church as a holy place of safety and protection for all who would enter and as a place in which all people can experience the love of God through relationships with others.
