Calvary Young Children’s School is a ministry of
Calvary United Methodist Church—providing quality education in a safe, nurturing environment.
YCS Strives to:
Focus on the growth and development of the whole child, including cognitive, physical, social and spiritual growth; encourage love and forgiveness in a nurturing Christian environment; foster the values of caring, sharing, cooperation and respect for the uniqueness of each person; encourage freedom and independence within established limits; promote curiosity about the world and a love for learning thru exploring and critical thinking; develop a feeling of self-worth and self-confidence; encourage concept formations through art, music, literature, drama, science and physical activity; value and promote play, the child’s work; and create a partnership with parents that will enhance the child’s learning.
YCS recognizes the importance of parental involvement during the early childhood years and strives to create a partnership with parents through which each child can learn and succeed.
The teachers write a daily note home.
Conferences are scheduled once a year and as needed.
Advice about nutrition, developmental stages, potty training, etc., is shared.
Monthly newsletters inform parents of important dates, health and safety concerns and reminders.
The Parent Auxiliary is very active in fundraising events.
The Moms Club is dedicated to educational programs.
